Sacrament of Baptism
Practicing Catholics and registered members of the parish should contact the parish office, 248-649-5510, to discuss making appointments and further arrangements for the baptism of a newborn. Attendance at a Baptismal preparation session is a requirement.
Also, sessions are available to prepare those not baptized as infants to receive the sacrament. The RCIC, or Rite of Christian Initiation for Children, instructs students grades 5-8, and RCIA, Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, provides training for mature candidates. Those interested should contact the parish office at 248-649-5510 and refer to the weekly parish bulletin for further information.
Children who have completed a full year of Faith Formation are eligible for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Children and parents attend three preparation events prior to their First Reconciliation.
First Eucharist, or First Communion
Children are eligible to prepare to receive the Eucharist after completing a full year of Faith Formation and celebrating First Reconciliation. With their parents or guardians, they attend three events developed to assist in sacrament formation. Families also attend a retreat experience and a rehearsal shortly before the day of First Communion.
Adults preparing to receive the Eucharist for the first time receive instruction through the RCIA, Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, program. Further information can be obtained by contacting the parish office at 248-649-5510. Updates also often appear in the weekly parish bulletin.
Sacrament of Confirmation
Eighth grade students will begin preparation for Confirmation in January and receive the sacrament the following November. Catholic adults who have not been confirmed will receive instruction through the RCIA program, scheduled to meet from September through April at 7:30 until 8:30 at Christ, Our Light! For further information about either series call the parish office at 248-649-5510 and watch for postings in the weekly bulletin.
Sacrament of Marriage
Practicing Catholics who are members of the parish must contact the office six months before the desired date of their wedding and schedule the prescribed number of counseling sessions that must be completed prior to marriage.
The Rosary is said after daily Mass. Please feel free to join the group.
Bible and Bagels
A series entitled A Biblical Walk with the Blessed Mother meets Wednesday mornings at 10 AM in the Social Hall. Filmed in the Holy Land, it is a powerful dramatization of Mary's life on earth.
Ministering to the Homebound
We are in need of more people to minister to the Homebound and Heartland Nursing Home. This ministry involves taking the Eucharist to those who have requested it and/or sending cards to them. If you are interested, please contact Elaine Cervera, 248.739.0916.
