Special Needs Program
Special Needs Formation: Under the direction of Pam LaGrassa, the Religious Education Program for Special Needs Students and Families is held on Saturday mornings from October through May, between 10 and 11:30 AM and incorporates the service of many dedicated adult catechists who work individually with students. The study and reception of the sacraments and attendance at Masses, as well as participation in special events, keep special needs students engaged in the life of our parish. The program is open to all qualifying students, not only the children of Christ, Our Light!
Call Pam LaGrassa at 248.649.5510, Ext. 113 for additional information.
Sunday Morning Programs:
Preschool, Ages 3-6: Classes are offered during the 9:30 and 11 AM Masses. Students sing, color, craft and have a project or dialogue related to that week's Gospel reading. They are served a snack and juice at the end of the session. Children are dropped off before Mass and picked up after Mass.
Liturgy of the Word for Children (LWC), Grades 1 - 5, during 11:00 AM Mass: The program is directed by a catechist and run by parent volunteers. Children are called from Mass to hear the Gospel explained to them at their level in a classroom setting. Discussion and dialogue follow the reading. Children return to Mass at the Offertory to complete their worship experience.
